How a company gets on the list, and how it comes off.
A list is only worth something if things can leave it. Nobody pays to appear on the Register, so the only thing keeping a company on it is the work.
How a company gets on
- It works on Kiawah or Seabrook regularly. Not “serves the Charleston area”: it actually comes onto the island.
- It holds 4.0 stars or better across its public reviews, and enough of them to mean something. Or it is a company our own team calls, including small local firms with no reviews online because they do not advertise.
- It is a company we would call for our own house. That is a judgment, and we make it.
Companies can put themselves forward. There is no fee at any stage, and anyone who tells you otherwise is not from Vellamore.
What we never take
- No fee to be listed, and no fee to stay listed.
- No paid placement, ranking or sponsored position.
- No referral commission when we book a company for an owner.
- No reciprocal arrangement of any kind.
How the list is kept
Ratings are taken from public reviews and carry the date they were published. We review the list on a rolling basis and update an entry whenever we work with the company. The Register is a record of what we know today, not a permanent endorsement, and a listing does not verify licensing, insurance or workmanship. Ask any company for its licence and certificate of insurance before it starts.
What takes a company off
- It stops coming to the island, or stops taking work here.
- Its public review standing falls below 4.0 and stays there.
- Work we coordinated was not to standard, and was not put right when raised.
- An owner was treated badly: pricing changed after the fact, access misused, or a commitment abandoned.
- It asks to be removed. No questions, the same week.
Removal is not a public event. We do not publish a list of removed companies, explain a removal to other owners, or use it as leverage.
If you are a company and something here is wrong
Call 843-619-2346 or write to hello@myvellamore.com. Corrections to a phone number, a trade or an ownership change are made the same week. If you believe a removal was unfair, say so. We will look at it again and tell you either way.
