Privacy Policy
Overview
Vellamore is a private house management service for homeowners on Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, and Johns Island, South Carolina. This policy explains what information we collect through myvellamore.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This policy covers our website and the Ask Vellamore tool. If you become a Vellamore client, the handling of information related to your home and your account is governed by your service agreement with us.
We are Vellamore, LLC. Our mailing address is ATTN: Pyxl, 677 King Street, 3rd Floor, Charleston, SC 29403. You can reach us at hello@myvellamore.com or (843) 619-2346.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you complete a signup or contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, the street or community your home is in, and anything you choose to write in a message field.
Information you enter into Ask Vellamore
We receive the questions you type into the tool and the responses it returns. Please do not enter your full address, gate or alarm codes, financial information, health information, or any other sensitive detail into the tool. It is built for general home-care questions, not for account or property specifics.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, we and our analytics providers may collect your IP address, approximate location derived from that address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time on page, and interactions such as clicks and form starts. If you arrive through a QR code on a vehicle, bicycle, or printed piece, we record which code you scanned so we know which placements are working.
Cookies and similar technologies
See the Cookies section below.
What we do not collect
We do not collect personal information from community listservs, neighborhood forums, or private message boards. The Ask Vellamore tool does not ingest, store, quote, retrieve from, or attribute individual posts, member names, addresses, or opinions about service providers from any such source. Where we study community discussion at all, it is only to identify recurring seasonal topics in aggregate — for example, that storm-preparation questions rise in September — with no individual post, name, address, or provider reference carried into the tool.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- respond to your inquiry and follow up about Vellamore's services;
- send you updates about our launch and services, if you have asked to receive them;
- operate and improve the Ask Vellamore tool, including reviewing common question patterns so the tool's answers get more useful;
- understand which pages, campaigns, and physical placements bring people to the site;
- maintain the security and integrity of the site;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Legal bases (visitors in the EEA and UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent for marketing messages and non-essential cookies; our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving our site and understanding how it is used; the necessity of processing to take steps at your request before entering a contract; and compliance with legal obligations.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, to understand how it is used, and to see which of our campaign placements bring people here.
How consent works
By continuing to use this site, you agree to our use of cookies as described in this section. You do not need to take any action to accept, and we do not interrupt your visit to ask. This notice is your notice.
The categories we use
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to load, for forms to submit, and to remember your preferences. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — help us understand which pages are used, how people arrive, and where visitors come from.
- Campaign measurement — help us see which of our placements, including printed materials and QR codes, bring people to the site.
If you would rather we not track your visit
You have two options, and either one is enough:
- Email us at hello@myvellamore.com and tell us you would like to opt out. We will confirm, and we will suppress you from any measurement and marketing activity we control.
- Change your browser settings. Because cookies are stored by your browser, this is the fastest and most complete route. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a specific site. If you would like help doing that, email or call us and we will walk you through it.
Opting out does not affect your ability to use the site or to contact us.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under US state privacy laws.
We share information with:
- Service providers who work on our behalf. These currently include our customer relationship and email platform, our website host, our analytics provider, our consent management platform, and the AI provider that powers Ask Vellamore. Each is bound by contract to use your information only to provide services to us.
- Professional advisors such as our attorneys, accountants, and insurers, where reasonably needed.
- Legal and safety recipients, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Vellamore, our clients, or others.
- A successor, if Vellamore is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. We will note any such change in this policy.
Ask Vellamore and artificial intelligence
Ask Vellamore is a chat tool that answers general home-care, storm-preparation, and seasonal questions for homeowners in our service area. It is powered by a third-party AI provider, which processes the text of your question in order to generate a response.
Three things to know:
- Your questions may be reviewed by us. We look at questions and answers, and at aggregate usage patterns, to improve the tool's accuracy and coverage. Please keep personal and property-specific details out of the tool.
- Answers are general information, not professional advice. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
- Provider information is drawn from public sources. Where the tool describes categories of local service providers, that information is aggregated from publicly available ratings and listings. It is not an endorsement, a ranking, or a recommendation of any particular business, and it is not based on private opinions shared in any community forum.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiry and signup information for as long as you remain an active contact and for three years after your last interaction with us, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we have a legal reason to keep it longer. Website analytics data is retained on a rolling basis according to our analytics provider's default settings. Ask Vellamore conversation data is retained for up to 12 months for quality and improvement purposes.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have collected about you and request a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information we hold about you;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, of targeted advertising, and of certain profiling;
- limit our use of sensitive personal information;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email hello@myvellamore.com or call (843) 619-2346. We will verify your identity, usually by confirming information we already hold, before acting on a request. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission that we can verify.
We respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need an additional 45 days. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the word "Appeal" in the subject line. We will answer an appeal within 45 days. If we deny your appeal, residents of some states may contact their state Attorney General.
Residents of the EEA and UK may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority, and may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already took place.
California residents
In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); commercial information (services inquired about); internet activity (browsing and interaction data); geolocation inferred from IP address; and inferences drawn from the above. We collect this from you directly and from your device automatically, and use it for the purposes listed in "How we use information." We disclose identifiers and internet activity to service providers for business purposes. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of anyone under 16.
Marketing messages
If you opt in to email updates, every message includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests promptly.
If you provide a phone number and opt in to text messages, message and data rates may apply, message frequency varies, you can reply STOP to stop and HELP for help, and consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any service. We do not text you unless you have separately and expressly agreed to it.
Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted transmission, access controls, and vendors selected for their security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The site and the Ask Vellamore tool are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@myvellamore.com and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Our site may link to other websites, including community, municipal, and weather resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their policies before providing information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are material we will post a notice on the site for at least 30 days.
